“Almond Blossom” - Painted by Van Gogh, 1890 - the painting was done in celebration of his nephew, Vincent Willem being born. I love seeing the blossom coming out on the trees, and this painting fills me with such happy feelings. It’s a beautiful way of celebrating new life, and given Van Gogh’s eventual suicide, I feel this piece is all the more important when studying him - the vibrant joy that occassionally cut through his crippling depression.
I have it set as my desktop wallpaper - it cheers me up whenever I feel blue.
